India is a country in South Asia. It is the Seventh-Largest country by area and second-largest by population and most populous democracy in the world. Home to the Indus valley society and a region of momentous trade routes and vast empire, the Indian subcontinent was branded with its commercial and cultural wealth for much of its long history. Four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism originated there, while Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam arrived in the first millennium CE and shaped the region's diverse culture. India got its independence on August 15th, 1947. It was the day when the Indians got liberated from the rule of the British. Farming is not only the dominant occupation of the people of India but is also one of the most significant economic sectors for the country. The official name for the country is Republic of India.

 

The Indian economy is the world's eleventh-largest by nominal GDP and third-largest by purchasing power parity (PPP). India is a grand country. It is the seventh largest country in the world and the second most populated country in the world. The country's official name, India is derived from the Old Persian version of Sindhu, the significant local appellation for the river Indus. However, it continue to face the challenge of poverty, illiteracy, corruption and scarce public healthcare. A third name, Hindustan, or land of the Hindus in Persian, was used from Mughal times onwards, though its modern use is unequally applied due to domestic dispute over how envoy it is as a national signifier. India is a federal constitutional republic governed under a parliamentary system consisting of 28 states and 7 union territories. India is a pluralistic, multilingual and mixed society. It is also home to a variety of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats. On the Indian Ocean, it is also closest to the island nations of the Maldives on the southwest, Sri Lanka on the south, and Indonesia on the southeast. India is the second most populous country in the world, with a population of over one billion, and is the seventh largest country by geographical area and so two other names for India less known outside India, Bharat and Hindustan.
